Lando Norris withheld criticism towards RB F1, calling their strategy for Ricciardo’s fastest lap a “smart move.”
Lando Norris was denied a point by Daniel Ricciardo, who pitted late in the race to secure the fastest lap from the back of the grid.
Who knows, that point might be valuable at the end of the year…
Will Norris, like Zak Brown, condemn an anti-competitive strategy by RB F1, which may have favored their parent team, Red Bull? No, because the McLaren F1 driver reacts with fair play.
“Well done to Daniel. I don’t know. There was nothing I could do; good for him. Yes, I tried my best to make a faster lap when the tires were in good condition, mid-stint. But I can’t have everything, you know. I’ve done my best to try to make faster laps these last weekends. But I can’t, with hard tires mid-stint, beat a guy with fresh soft tires. So, yes, that’s life.”
“The coalition afterwards… That’s how it is in Formula 1, I don’t know, probably since before I was born, so… Nothing to say. There have been races in the past where other drivers have tried to take things from others. It’s the logical thing to do. Smart play on their part. I’m happy for Daniel. That’s all.”
