Lando Norris is ready to battle Verstappen for victory in Miami, despite narrowly missing pole and joking about fatherhood not slowing his rival.

Lando Norris came incredibly close to securing pole position in Miami, finishing less than a tenth of a second behind Max Verstappen. The McLaren driver couldn’t help but joke about how his rival, despite recently becoming a father, continues to perform at his best.

“Congrats to Max! Especially now that he’s a dad – I thought that would slow him down, but it clearly hasn’t! I’m happy with my progress and how the car is feeling, but Max just did what Max does best. Still, I’m pleased,” said Norris, who admitted to making a small mistake in the final corner.

“Yeah, it happened. But even through the rest of the lap, I didn’t quite hit all the right notes. The pace was there, though, and the car felt a lot better than it has in previous weekends. We didn’t quite put everything together, but that’s racing. Max is on pole, I’m second, and now I’m looking forward to what I can do at Turn 1.”

The British driver is ready to fight for the win, no matter the weather conditions. Having shown impressive pace in the rain during the Sprint, he feels confident: “I was ready for it, and honestly, it doesn’t matter to me whether it’s dry or wet. Miami’s weather can be unpredictable, but I’m prepared for either.”
