Lando Norris teases a future Ferrari switch but remains committed to McLaren, insisting he’s not ready to leave his long-time F1 home.
Lando Norris is thriving with McLaren F1, where he hopes to compete for the world title this year. However, the British driver already has an idea of the next team he would like to join.
“I know exactly which team I’d like to go to,” Norris told NBC, before dropping a rather obvious hint. “It’s the team that everyone wants to be part of at some point in their career.”
Such a statement inevitably points to Ferrari, the team every Formula 1 driver dreams of joining, as Lewis Hamilton recently reminded. But Norris insists he is not yet at that stage in his thinking.
“But I’m very happy with McLaren. They brought me into F1, I’ve basically spent my whole life here. I want to stay here for many more years. I’m excited to stay in papaya and keep fighting.”
He also praised Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari: “It’s a great story for him to go to Ferrari. After everything he has achieved, I think it’s an interesting step. A lot of people have said it might not be the right move and so on.”
“But I’d probably do the same if I were in his position. So it’s cool, it’s good. It’s an incredible story for him. I know he’ll want to go there with a fresh mindset and show everyone that he’s still the Lewis Hamilton he has been for so many years.”
