Lando Norris highlights McLaren F1’s pursuit of Red Bull, emphasizing their hard work’s rewards. Their efforts inch closer to the pace-setters, signaling a promising direction for the team.
Lando Norris emerged as the sole driver seemingly capable of contending with the Red Bulls at Suzuka, as the qualifying session progressed. The McLaren F1 driver will start third tomorrow, having posted a time nearly three-tenths off Max Verstappen.
“It was thrilling, the chances were slim, but we had a good car, I managed to compete, delivered some strong laps, especially in Q3, so I’m pleased. It’s always great here with the fans, and McLaren performed well here last year, we had a good race last weekend, so we’re going all out,” Norris stated.
The British driver acknowledged Red Bull’s superiority, yet he was pleased to see McLaren’s continued progress throughout the season. He believes a podium finish is within reach in the race.
“Of course, we had a good weekend, we’ve made solid progress but we’re trying to catch up to Red Bull. They’re doing an excellent job, kudos to them. But we’re working tirelessly and it’s paying off, so we’ll keep pushing hard, and tomorrow is what counts.”
