McLaren’s rising stars aim to extend their winning streak in Japan, as the team eyes a third straight Formula 1 triumph.

Lando Norris heads into the third race of the Formula 1 season as the championship leader — and he’s fired up for a return to one of the sport’s most iconic venues: Suzuka.

“I can’t wait to be back in Japan,” said Norris. “It’s one of my favorite weekends of the year. The fans create an amazing atmosphere, and the Suzuka circuit is a joy to drive.”

After a strong start to the season, the British driver says the short break came at a good time.
“It was nice to have a bit of rest after a positive first two races. We went back to Woking, celebrated with the team, and then jumped straight into preparations for the triple-header. We’ve learned a lot already — now it’s about putting that knowledge to work.”

Teammate Oscar Piastri is also heading to Suzuka on a high. The Australian took his first career podium at the Japanese Grand Prix last year, and now arrives as the sport’s most recent race winner following his victory in China.

McLaren Fired Up for Suzuka

“Suzuka is one of the most thrilling tracks we go to,” said Piastri. “The 130R is legendary, and the high-speed corners make it such a unique driving experience. The layout hasn’t changed much over the years, which adds to the magic.”

“Winning in China was incredible, but we know every race is a fresh challenge. The fight at the front is super tight, and we’ll need to be on point in every area if we want to stay in the mix. I’m excited to get back on track and put on a show for the Japanese fans — their energy is unmatched.”

McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella echoed that passion, and stressed the importance of building on the team’s strong early-season form.

“After a weekend off, we’re eager to go racing again — and what better place than Suzuka,” Stella said. “It’s a special circuit, not just for the driving challenge, but for the incredible fans who bring so much energy.”

“We took some time last week to come together at the factory and celebrate our two wins, but our focus quickly shifted to preparing for this intense run of races. China showed just how competitive the grid is, and we’re staying focused on ourselves — improving our pace, sharpening our execution, and pushing for more.”

“We want to deliver a great race for our papaya fans — both at the track and around the world.”
