McLaren F1 is set to tackle two pivotal triple-headers, beginning with the United States Grand Prix this weekend in Austin.
Lando Norris is ready for the season finale, starting this weekend with the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
The McLaren F1 driver will rely on his MCL38, potentially improved (though the team hasn’t revealed anything), to try and challenge Max Verstappen and his heavily updated RB20.
Norris’ chances of taking the title from the Dutchman will largely depend on the momentum established in Austin, a race with added importance due to crucial points being available in Saturday’s Sprint.
“I love going to Austin. The atmosphere is always amazing, and I really enjoy racing there, especially with the awesome Chrome livery we have this weekend. It’s a great race to kick off the final stretch of the season after a few weeks of rest. It’s also a Sprint weekend, which means more points up for grabs.”
“I spent time at the factory at MTC in the simulator to prepare for the upcoming triple-header. The next couple of months are going to be incredibly busy but also exciting. I’m ready to get back in the car, so let’s show Texas what we can do.”
Oscar Piastri also has a big task ahead: supporting McLaren F1 to strengthen their lead in the Constructors’ Championship and, if possible, denying Max Verstappen valuable points to help his teammate in the Drivers’ Championship. He’s ready!
“It’s great to be back racing after a short break. It was nice to have a few weeks to recharge but also to work with my engineers to prepare for the upcoming races. We’ve now built up great momentum, so it’s about continuing to deliver consistent results on our side.”
“I’m excited to return to Austin. It’s a really fun place to go with great fans and good food. The Sprint offers some good opportunities, and we also have a fantastic-looking Chrome livery. Let’s go and get another strong result for the team.”
Andrea Stella, the team principal, has been far from resting as much as his drivers.
“After a busy few weeks at the factory consolidating and reinforcing our championship campaign, we now head to Austin for the first leg of two triple headers.”
“We’re just six races from the end of the season, but there are still plenty of points to win. Many teams will bring updates in these final races, so we expect close competition, but as always, we’ll keep our heads down, focus on ourselves, and look to score points consistently in our quest for both titles.”
