Fernando Alonso walked away from the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with an 11th-place finish — just shy of the points-paying positions.
Despite a strong and determined drive, the two-time world champion couldn’t crack the top ten in Jeddah. While satisfied with his performance, Alonso acknowledged that the AMR25 simply wasn’t competitive enough this weekend.
“It was a tough race here in Jeddah — like doing 50 qualifying laps,” he said. “We gave it everything. We tried to stay within DRS range of the cars ahead and took advantage of a few mistakes, but it just wasn’t enough. The car needs work, but the team is pushing hard. We won’t give up — we’ll keep fighting, and we’ll come back stronger in Miami.”
Teammate Lance Stroll finished 16th, the same position he started from on the grid.
“We went for a long first stint, hoping a safety car would give us a chance, but it didn’t go our way,” said Stroll. “Starting from P16, we had to take risks. The strategy was our only shot at moving up the order. We’re far from where we want to be, but the season is still young. We’ll keep pushing to unlock more performance.”
With both drivers outside the points, it’s clear Aston Martin still has work to do — but there’s no sign of them backing down.
