Bearman & Ocon Face Saudi Struggles as Haas Misses Points

Despite bold strategies and grit, Haas drivers Bearman and Ocon couldn’t convert effort into points during a tough Saudi Grand Prix.

It was a challenging Grand Prix weekend for Haas F1, with neither Oliver Bearman nor Esteban Ocon managing to finish in the points under the lights of Jeddah.

Bearman crossed the line in 13th after struggling with pace throughout the race. The young Brit admitted he couldn’t find the rhythm he needed to fight for a top-10 finish — something he had hoped to achieve.

“I had a tough time out there,” Bearman said post-race. “The balance wasn’t where I wanted it to be, and I just couldn’t do more. The overtakes were fine, but they don’t mean much when you’re not racing for points. We’ll try to bounce back stronger next time.”

Ocon, who started 19th on the grid, climbed to 14th by the checkered flag. He ran a bold one-stop strategy, pitting during the Safety Car and trying to stretch a single set of tires to the end.

“We went for a really aggressive strategy, staying out on the same set the whole race,” Ocon explained. “It was a bit too much — I had nothing left in the final lap, but we weren’t fighting anyone by then.”

Despite the lack of points, Ocon saw some positives.

“We did put ourselves in a good position at one point — we were in the points, and that’s what we aimed for: to be there if something happened. It didn’t work out this time, but we’ve been one of the more consistent teams over the first three rounds. Now it’s about putting all the pieces together.”
