Dutch GP officials deny any deal to alternate the Formula 1 races with Belgium’s Spa from 2026.
The head of the Dutch GP has refuted reports suggesting that an agreement to alternate the Zandvoort and Spa-Francorchamps Grands Prix annually starting in 2026 has been reached.
Just a few days ago, Robert van Overdijk, director of the Zandvoort circuit, raised concerns about the future of this popular Formula 1 event, warning that the contract’s expiration in 2025 might signal the end of the Dutch GP.
“At the moment, the financial risks are too significant, but of course, we are doing everything we can to see if a race post-2025 is still feasible. Clearly, the situation is precarious.”
Following this interview conducted at Spa, rumors surfaced that an agreement had been reached with the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa for an alternation
“A person directly involved in the negotiations confirmed to us that the agreement has been outlined,” wrote journalist Frank Woestenburg, from the Dutch Formula 1 magazine.
He added that Spa would be the first to host a race under the new deal in 2026, meaning that the next Dutch Grand Prix after next year would take place in 2027.
However, when contacted for comment, van Overdijk denied that the agreement was signed, insisting that he “does not recognize the article as correct” on several points.
