Monza Mayhem Can Stake F1 Bounce Back

Stake F1 at Monza: Hope Despite Setbacks?

29/08/2024

After a rough ride at Zandvoort, Stake F1 heads to Monza, clinging to hope amidst challenges.

The Dutch Grand Prix was a disaster for Stake F1. Both home drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou, were the only ones to finish two laps behind the winner, Lando Norris. And in qualifying, the green cars were also the only ones a second off the pole.

Can Stake avoid another debacle this weekend at Monza? The Zandvoort layout is nothing like the Temple of Speed, but can that alone give hope to a team that seems lost?

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the team representative, tries to see the glass half full… even if there might not even be enough water for that!

“Undoubtedly, we had a tough weekend at Zandvoort, perhaps the toughest for our team since the start of the year, but we continue to work hard to bring about a positive and lasting change to our season, starting this weekend.”

“The Autodromo di Monza is one of the most iconic venues on the calendar, having hosted races for over nine decades, and it is where drivers have written enduring pages in the history of motorsport; just walking in its facilities, one almost feels like stepping into that history, hearing the roar of engines in the Temple of Speed. The passion of the fans in the stands is contagious and has always been an extra motivation to perform well.”

“That’s what we’ll strive to do this weekend, starting Friday, aiming to mix it up in the race and move up through the field.”

Valtteri Bottas continues to excel at Stake F1, outperforming his teammate in both qualifying and races. On paper, he does everything to convince Stake/Audi, and its new CEO Mattia Binotto, to keep him next year.

“We head to Monza this week intending to put the challenging weekend at Zandvoort behind us and make a step forward in our performance. The Italian Grand Prix, one of the oldest races on the calendar, is always a special event where the cheers of passionate fans can be heard even from inside the car—and they always put on a great show.”

“I’ve enjoyed racing here over the years, and I’m looking forward to doing it again this weekend. There’s a lot of work happening at the factory and everyone is fully committed to turning our performance and season around: I hope the track will better suit our car, allowing us to extract more from our package and be competitive, to try and secure our first points of the season.”

Struggling with pure performance, Guanyu Zhou is likely already out of contention to keep his seat next year. Yet, he remains optimistic for this Italian weekend.

“Zandvoort was a tough race to digest, but it’s now behind us, and we return to Italy with the intention of turning the page, as a long and intense European season comes to an end this weekend. I think things should go better for us at Monza, on a track very different from Zandvoort, which should also be less affected by extreme conditions.”

“The race at Monza is undoubtedly unique for its rich history and the tireless energy of the fans. This weekend, the task remains the same: work on our performance and get the most out of the car.”
