Ricciardo Thrives; Tsunoda Confident After Montreal FP2

08/06/2024

Both Ricciardo and Tsunoda expressed satisfaction after a promising FP2 at the Canadian Grand Prix, setting a strong pace despite challenging conditions.

Daniel Ricciardo was very pleased after an encouraging fifth place in FP2 at the Canadian Grand Prix. The RB F1 driver praised the day for the good feeling on the track, and he thinks the key will be to anticipate the changing conditions well for the rest of the weekend.

“I feel quite good. I didn’t think we’d be running because there was hail before FP1, but we managed to do some laps in FP2 and test the different compounds. It was a good day, no worries, just love and joy!” Ricciardo celebrated.

“We’re always trying to fine-tune, but I don’t think we’ll do much tonight. We’re in a good situation, everyone will be able to sleep. The track is much smoother, it’s less harsh on the tires and it dried very well this morning. I think we need to be cautious tomorrow and we need to have the right tires.”

Yuki Tsunoda is also satisfied with the day: “It was positive, there are still things to improve but it was good. It’s been a long time since I last drove in the rain, and it’s almost the first time with this car. But we were solid and I’m confident for these conditions.”

“It’s hard to say what the situation is, everyone was doing different things. But in terms of pace, we were solid, we’re not in a bad situation. But it will be a tight qualification so we’ll need to keep our minds sharp, which we have done in the last races.”
