Monaco Hopes High as Leclerc Seeks Ferrari Revival

Charles Leclerc hopes Monaco’s slow-speed layout sparks Ferrari’s form, targeting strong F1 2025 qualifying to revive his troubled season.

Charles Leclerc has expressed hope that the “unique” layout of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit can help Ferrari achieve a positive result and revive what has so far been a disappointing 2025 Formula 1 season.

The Monegasque arrives in his home country sitting fifth in the drivers’ standings, with a third-place finish in Jeddah being his best result of the current campaign.

Ferrari Targets Monaco Reset

The Ferrari SF-25 has underperformed on circuits dominated by slow-speed corners this year. Its predecessor, the SF-24, was far more competitive on slower tracks, allowing Leclerc to secure his first home victory last year.

Asked whether Monaco’s slow nature could allow Ferrari to focus more on setup improvements rather than balancing the car’s strengths and weaknesses, Leclerc said this could indeed help the team find solutions.

“The answer will come on track tomorrow. We still don’t really know what to expect, but it’s true that the gaps are small. So we’ll concentrate and set up the car as best we can for the corners. Normally, with every car, you try to find a compromise between high-speed and low-speed performance. But here, it’s all about low speed, and I hope that brings something new out of our car that we haven’t yet seen.”

Leclerc Hopes Monaco Magic

Leclerc believes this fully low-speed circuit could help Ferrari improve its setup, with fewer compromises required from the car.

While Charles Leclerc admitted that “on paper, Monaco doesn’t seem to be the most exceptional circuit for us,” he acknowledged that making sure the car is quick enough to reach the final part of qualifying is crucial for a successful race.

“But Monaco is also a unique circuit and so different from anything else we’ve driven this season. We could have a small surprise as early as the start of free practice tomorrow. I hope that’s the case. And if it’s not, I hope to be there on Saturday, which in my opinion will still be the most important moment of the weekend. But on paper, it’s tight.”

Leclerc then said that if he manages to reach Q3, there is always hope to “do something magical, because you never know where you’ll end up when there’s a bit of chaos.”

“Okay, we have some early ideas about the positions we’ll be fighting for in qualifying, but until that lap in Q3 is done and everyone has completed their runs, we don’t really know where we stand.”
