Haas F1 enters the Miami Grand Prix aiming to maintain momentum, improve consistency, and impress in their high-pressure home Sprint race.
After a rollercoaster start to the 2025 season, Haas F1 is ready to tackle its first home race this weekend in Miami. As the only American team on the Formula 1 grid, Haas is eager to put on a strong show in front of its fans.
Team Principal Ayao Komatsu reflected on the early stages of the season and set the tone for the weekend ahead.
“It has been a hectic start, with five races over six weekends, and it has definitely been a bit up and down,” Komatsu admitted.
“Melbourne exposed some weaknesses in the VF-25, but the team responded incredibly well. We brought a new floor upgrade by the third race and scored 20 points across three races. Every time we hit the track, we learn more about how to maximize the VF-25 and push its limits.”
Komatsu praised drivers Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman for their leadership and effort.
“Both Esteban and Ollie have been outstanding, giving clear feedback and pushing the team every day, not to mention some amazing performances already. Now, we head into Miami, our first home race of the season, and it feels special.”
Komatsu also highlighted the growing significance of the Miami Grand Prix.
“The event has added a new dimension to Formula 1. It keeps getting bigger and better. We cannot wait to race in front of our American fans and partners.”
For rookie Ollie Bearman, Miami brings fresh challenges. He will only have one practice session before heading straight into Sprint qualifying.
“This is just our second Sprint weekend of the season, and it will be a tough one,” Bearman said.
“It is my first time racing in Miami, and adding the Sprint format makes it even harder, but I am really excited to get out there. The venue looks amazing, the stadium is super cool, and it is the first home race for MoneyGram Haas F1 Team this year. It is going to be busy, but also a lot of fun.”
Meanwhile, Esteban Ocon is aiming to bounce back after a tough run of races. Despite scoring points in Bahrain, consistency has been elusive.
“After a long triple-header, it was good for everyone to take a breather and reflect,” said the Frenchman.
“Overall, we can be proud of our start to the season. Of course, we want more, and we are working hard to unlock more performance and find consistency. Miami will be another important test.”
Ocon is looking forward to racing again in one of F1’s most vibrant settings.
“Miami is such a cool and energetic city. This is our first of three home races this season, and I am excited to experience that as a Haas driver for the first time.”
Ocon has good memories here, including a strong drive in 2022.
“I remember fighting back from the rear of the grid to finish eighth two years ago. The track offers a fun mix of slow technical sections and fast, flowing corners. It is a great challenge.”
With only one practice session before qualifying, Ocon knows quick adaptation will be key.
“It is a Sprint weekend, so we need to be sharp from the start. We are looking forward to putting on a great show for our passionate American fans.”
