Mercedes F1’s resolve shines as they plan to conclude their season triumphantly, aiming for continuous victories.
Mercedes F1 won the last two races, in Austria and Great Britain. Lewis Hamilton triumphed at Silverstone, and Andrew Shovlin, the trackside engineering director, noted that the results could have been even more convincing if George Russell hadn’t encountered a mechanical issue.
“The team is absolutely thrilled and after seeing George take the win in Austria, it’s fantastic that Lewis secured it at the British Grand Prix,” Shovlin stated. “It’s obviously disappointing that George couldn’t make it to the podium.”
“But two consecutive victories are great. There’s a lot of energy in the team right now. We’ve been working hard for months, but now you can start to see the fruits of this labor, and there’s still a lot to do.”
Shovlin highlights the significance of this victory for Mercedes and Hamilton: “It’s an extremely important result. We had said at the start of the year that we were determined to finish in style with Lewis. He has played a very significant role in the team’s history.”
“It would have been a pity not to win more with him, but it’s really great to see him on the top step. Yes, it’s a huge boost to the mood here and everyone’s motivation because we’ve worked so hard and because the start of the year was so challenging.”
The engineer is pleased to see a confident Hamilton comfortable in his car: “I think for Lewis’s confidence and mood in the car, you can see he’s really enjoying it now. So that was very nice to see.”
“I hope there will be more victories this season. We are not satisfied with just two wins. We want more. So we continue to work hard. We have performance targets to reach, and we’re trying to bring them to the car as fast as possible. It won’t be easy, but we’re going to fight until the end.”
