Mercedes F1 has just announced the launch date for its 2024 Formula 1 car.
Unsurprisingly, the single-seater will be named W15, continuing the “Wxx” naming tradition unchanged since the Germans’ return to the sport as a factory team in 2010.
The W15 will be unveiled on February 14th at Silverstone, with a live presentation from the circuit followed by a shakedown.
Mercedes is entering this year with a determination for redemption after a yet mediocre 2023 season by its standards, which saw them progress from 3rd to 2nd place in the constructors’ championship… but without a single victory, unlike in 2022.
Toto Wolff and James Allison have already announced a completely revamped W15 for 2024, a necessary gamble as well as a risk since this car’s foundation will also be used in 2025, before the major changes of 2026. Mercedes F1 thus cannot afford a third consecutive disappointing season, to avoid further frustrating Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
As a reminder, all confirmed presentation dates are available below.
