Mercedes F1 focuses efforts on slow corner performance, aiming for a competitive edge with the W16 in the 2025 season.
Mercedes F1 has revealed that a key development goal for the future is to address its weak performance in slow corners.
The W15 has entered a series of experiments aimed at the upcoming W16 for 2025, as the team has little to play for in the constructors’ championship, with a well-secured 4th place.
Andrew Shovlin, the trackside engineering director, stated, “The issues we’re facing with our latest update are the same ones we’ve faced previously.”
“We tend to struggle in slow corners, especially when one turn follows another.”
“The team is prioritizing this development area for 2025 and our W16. Our main goal in the remaining races is to learn what we can to launch the best possible car.”
“We’re in a championship position where we can’t fight with those ahead, and it’s unlikely we’ll face challenges from teams behind us.”
“Our focus has shifted significantly toward understanding what we need to apply next year to overcome these issues.”
