Mercedes F1 Eyes 2025 Gains with Brazil Test Push

30/10/2024

Mercedes F1 begins testing in Brazil, balancing critical 2025 preparation with a continued focus on securing strong results this season.

Mercedes F1 holds firmly onto 4th place in the Constructors’ Championship, unable to realistically aim for Red Bull Racing’s 3rd spot, nor is it threatened by 5th-place Aston Martin F1.

Toto Wolff, Mercedes F1’s team principal, outlines his team’s approach for the season’s remaining races, starting with Brazil this weekend: maximize learning to best prepare next year’s W16.

“The last two races in Austin and Mexico weren’t the cleanest, so we’re aiming for a smoother weekend at Interlagos,” says the Austrian team boss.

“Despite the challenges in the U.S. and Mexico, we’ve deepened our understanding of the W15. Given our championship position, we’ve been able to test elements with minimal penalty. While we remain focused on maximizing our result each weekend, these tests and learning moments are invaluable for preparing for 2025. We’ll continue this approach in Brazil.”

“Interlagos is a true driver’s circuit with plenty of undulations and a mix of low, medium, and high-speed corners. With it being the penultimate Sprint of the year, we’ll need to execute efficiently from the first session to get the car into a good window.”

“We know challenging Ferrari and McLaren, who’ve looked strong in recent races, will be tough. Still, we’ll keep pushing hard to see where our performance stands over the weekend.”
