McLaren impresses on the opening day in Jeddah with Norris topping the charts, while Piastri pushes for further gains ahead of qualifying.
Lando Norris kicked off the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend in the best possible way, showing impressive pace and setting the fastest time in the second session, making it the quickest of the day. The McLaren F1 driver is focused on refining this strong start to secure a solid result in Jeddah.
“It’s been a good start to the weekend and a productive first day on track. I feel comfortable in the car and gaining confidence. We have reliable data from the many laps we completed, so I’ll continue to work closely with the team tonight, focusing on the areas we’ve identified for tomorrow’s qualifying,” said Norris.
Oscar Piastri wasn’t far behind, finishing the day in second place, reinforcing McLaren’s solid position. However, the Australian acknowledged that their advantage is not yet comfortable.
“Solid Friday for us. The day was a bit more challenging, but I believe the car’s pace is good. The competition is close, so we need to fine-tune a few areas to be fully prepared for qualifying. We’ll review everything tonight and make sure we’re ready for tomorrow,” Piastri noted.
