McLaren's Piastri Sets Bold 2025 Goal - Victory Awaits

Piastri Eyes 2025 Glory: “Winning From Day One Is Key”

18/01/2025

Oscar Piastri aims high for 2025, determined to challenge rivals and deliver consistent victories for McLaren from the season’s outset.

Oscar Piastri expects to have opportunities for victories and even a world title in 2025. The McLaren F1 driver, who was outperformed by his teammate in 2024, aims to return strong and establish himself at the front of the grid from the start of the year.

“I’m really looking forward to that year. The goal is to win from day one,” Piastri told ABC Sport. “It will be a fight, no doubt. The top teams are there for a reason, and they will all want to catch up with us in 2025.”

The Australian believes he still has significant room for growth and untapped potential: “I’ve only had two seasons in F1, so it’s natural that I still have a lot of room to grow and improve.”

“That’s what excites me the most, because I know there’s still much more to come. Experience can’t be bought, but I’m gradually gaining it in this category, and I’m very excited about the future.”

Being tasked with supporting his teammate Lando Norris does not concern him, especially as McLaren plans to give them equal opportunities at the start of the season: “It’s not something I’m really worried about. I’m more focused on racing and winning.”

“I helped Lando and the team when asked toward the end of last year. I know that if the roles are reversed, I’ll be helped too. This year, we’ll be free to race each other.”

A key highlight for Piastri in the 2025 season is the calendar’s opening in Australia, his home race, as he was born in Melbourne: “It’s fantastic that the season kicks off in my backyard.”

“I’m biased, but the atmosphere in Melbourne is very special, and the fans always come out in force. The reception I’ve had there over the past two seasons gave me goosebumps, and I know 2025 will be no exception. I can’t wait to be there.”
