Asserting the “very important” role of acting as a “voice for the sport,” Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, has deemed it necessary to voice his concerns regarding the ongoing investigation into Christian Horner at Red Bull for the benefit of Formula 1.
Off-track issues have overshadowed Red Bull’s headlines at the outset of the 2024 season, following an internal investigation into team director Horner triggered by allegations of inappropriate behavior from an employee, a case that was initially dismissed.
An internal appeal is currently underway, and the outcomes remain undisclosed, although it is likely that the employee in question will have to seek legal recourse while still being suspended from duties.
Details of the case have still not been revealed by Red Bull, prompting Brown to call for transparency ahead of the season’s start.
This transparency has not yet been forthcoming, and this is beginning to irritate the American.
“As ambassadors of the Formula 1 brand, it is only right to express our concerns given that Red Bull represents a significant part of the sport.”
“I believe it is crucial to be a voice for the sport on key issues.”
“We all have a responsibility to protect our brand. We are all ambassadors. We must hold each other to the highest standards and to what F1 represents.”
“What happened there was not good for Horner, but his brand and his team are a significant part of the sport, so I felt it was right to express our concern that this matter be handled swiftly, appropriately, and transparently.”
“Regrettably, it is already June and full clarity has not yet been achieved.”
