McLaren vs Ferrari An Epic Showdown for F1 Supremacy

Can McLaren’s MCL38 Withstand Ferrari’s Late-Season Surge?

08/11/2024

McLaren holds the lead, yet the race for the title intensifies with Ferrari and Red Bull poised to challenge.

Will McLaren F1 Clinch the Constructors’ Title in 2024? The Woking-based team stands as the current favorite, leading Ferrari by 36 points and Red Bull by 49.

Yet, the championship is far from settled, with a formidable 147 points still up for grabs — enough for four double podium finishes, including one in the Qatar Sprint and three fastest lap bonuses.

Andrea Stella, McLaren F1’s team principal, remains confident that the MCL38 is resilient enough to maintain its lead as the season nears its climax. His sights, however, are already set on 2025, where the MCL39 will closely follow in its predecessor’s footsteps.

“Yes, our car remains highly competitive, and our understanding of it is as profound as ever.”

“We have also been greatly encouraged by the alignment of the front wing and floor data with our developmental predictions,” Stella affirms.

“The recent updates were less substantial than in past seasons, yet each contributed precisely as intended to our lap times.”

“This consistency bolsters our confidence as we prepare for the 2025 season.”

Despite their commanding position, Stella is adamant: McLaren will not become complacent, even if they manage to break their championship drought with this year’s constructors’ title.

“At McLaren, we focus solely on ourselves. There is no single rival we prioritize above others.”

“All of our competitors — be it Red Bull, Mercedes, or Ferrari — are in our sights. For us, they are all to be approached with equal determination.”

Is there a particular adversary McLaren ought to fear?

“Ferrari has made consistent strides in developing its car. While there was a phase where things didn’t go as planned, Ferrari overcame those challenges.”

“They have addressed certain issues and now possess a very competitive car. Ferrari is doing an excellent job.”
