Pérez voices concern as McLaren outperforms, leaving the Red Bull racer disappointed with his own speed.
Sergio Pérez had hoped for better than his sixth-place finish at Zandvoort, and he admits he was surprised by McLaren F1’s lead in the Netherlands, especially by Ferrari’s resurgence, finishing in third and fifth places.
“The progress was good compared to previous weekends, but I was very disappointed with the race pace,” Pérez stated. “I expected to be much closer to the McLarens and Ferrari was a surprise.”
“Lots to understand, it was a positive weekend for the team as we ran different settings, gathered a lot of data, and hope to put it all together. Monza will be a different race but it’s scary to see what McLaren could do.”
The Mexican now hopes for progress: “It’s positive. We found good solutions on the car and it helped to understand the issues. It was positive, but now we need to improve the car and get back our race pace.”
