McLaren MCL38 Unveiled: Norris Eager for Debut

14/02/2024

McLaren F1’s MCL38 reveal sparks excitement. Lando Norris shares his anticipation for its performance, starting with Silverstone’s shakedown.

McLaren F1 unveiled its new single-seater, the MCL38, this Wednesday morning. Lando Norris, a driver for the team, shared his thoughts on what this means for him and how eager he is to get to grips with it, starting with today’s shakedown at Silverstone, followed by Bahrain.

“I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the MCL38 and seeing how it performs,” said Norris. “The livery looks fantastic on the new car, so it’s exciting to hit the track today. I’m eager to test the car in Bahrain.”

“I have full confidence in the team, and I believe we will continue to make progress following last season’s turnaround. However, the real test of our progress will come when we put the car through its paces during testing, before qualifying and racing at the Bahrain Grand Prix.”

“Over the past few weeks, I’ve spent a lot of time in the simulator with my engineers at the MTC to ensure we’re well-prepared for next week. Thanks to everyone at the track and in the factory for their hard work that has brought us to this point.”

“A significant milestone” in the season

Oscar Piastri is set to undergo his second pre-season preparation in Formula 1, hoping it goes smoothly thanks to the intensive work carried out this winter at the McLaren Technology Centre with all the engineers.

“It’s great to be able to drive the MCL38 on the track for the first time today. It’s a significant milestone in our development for the year, and I’m looking forward to seeing it on track in its new livery,” noted the Australian.

“We won’t know where we stand in terms of competitiveness until we race in Bahrain, but we’ve prepared as best as we can by spending time in the simulator, working closely with everyone who has designed and built the car and will be running it, to make sure we’re ready to get off to a good start.”

“I’m looking forward to the coming weeks that will lead us into a busy year. A big thank you to the team for everything they’ve done so far to prepare us for 2024. I’m really excited to start my second season in F1.”
