Max Verstappen reflects on a challenging F1 season, marking his extraordinary fourth world championship with pride and determination.
Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive world title with a fifth-place finish in Las Vegas, after a race where he battled against the Ferraris. Deeply emotional at the finish line, the Red Bull driver joined Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel in the number of world championships.
“It’s been a long season. It started incredibly well, then we went through a tough stretch. But as a team, we stayed united, worked to improve, and I couldn’t be prouder of what everyone in the team has done for me. Becoming a four-time champion is something I could never have imagined. I’m relieved but, above all, very proud,” Verstappen said.
The Dutchman admits he never envisioned such a record: “Not at all! I was just happy to be there, dreaming of possible wins, podiums—things that are already hard to achieve. We had some tough years where we tried, then we were fast with the new concept right from the start. Being a four-time champion is unbelievable.”
“It was a very difficult season, also personally at times. I had to stay calm, and… I enjoyed last season, but this one taught me many lessons, things I’m proud of, both personally and with the team. It was a beautiful season.”
Verstappen praised his fans and team for their unwavering support, which helped him navigate a uniquely challenging season, tougher than previous ones.
“It’s incredible to see the fans wherever we go. I spoiled them last season with so many wins, and they had to wait quite a while this year mid-season for us to get back to winning. This is an amazing sport, and I’m happy to see the fans here.”
“And the team… what can I say? We’ve been through so much together and achieved so much, whether with the crew here at the track or back at the factory. Everyone gave everything to make me champion, and doing it four times in a row is special.”
Asked about his chances of a fifth consecutive title next year, he admitted it would be tough: “It will be an intense battle among many cars, but I think it will be exciting. I’ll enjoy it, aim for good results in the last two races, rest this winter, and see what happens next year.”
