Max Verstappen’s leadership inspires Red Bull, driving motivation within the team and setting a benchmark for success this season.
Christian Horner praised Max Verstappen’s leadership within Red Bull Racing. The team principal highlighted the impressive performances of his driver throughout the season, emphasizing that Verstappen has been an inspiration for everyone at Red Bull.
“Max has shown this year the skill and mental strength he possesses,” Horner said. “He delivered brilliant races, rose to the occasion in crucial moments, and didn’t panic when things didn’t go his way. He drove like a four-time world champion this season.”
“He is the most deserving driver of this world championship. He worked harder than ever before, especially during the summer when we were under pressure. He collaborated intensively with the engineers.”
“He has also been an inspiration in the cockpit. Look at the kind of race he delivered in Brazil and the motivation he brought to the team in Milton Keynes the following Monday. You could feel the energy. Throughout the year, I’ve admired his professionalism, his support, and how fantastic it is to work with him.”
The Briton, who faced a turbulent year with accusations directed at him, revealed he received strong support from the team: “Two things stood out. First, the technical leadership came to my office with a letter they had written and signed for the shareholders, pledging their support and backing. That was very moving. Second, when I addressed the staff at the start of the year, the warmth and reception I received were exceptional. I think sometimes the perception from the outside and what happens internally are very different things.”
Horner is confident Red Bull will emerge stronger after this challenging season: “Will everything we’ve gone through this season make us stronger next year? One hundred percent. What doesn’t break you makes you stronger. Without a doubt, we will come out of 2024 as a stronger team, more determined, and more resolute than ever.”
“What excites me is what the future holds. We are developing our own engine for 2026, and it’s a massive undertaking. The commitment and passion within this company are outstanding, and we will succeed.”
Amid rumors of Verstappen moving to Mercedes, Horner is confident the Dutchman will remain with Red Bull: “Max will stay. He trusts the people around him. He believes in the people surrounding him. He’s winning.”
“He’s in a good position, and of course, we need to continue providing a car worthy of his talent, and I’m confident we can do that. Look, my approach this year has been to keep my head down and keep pushing forward.”
“Let them throw their stones, do their work, and at the end of the year, if we bring the trophy home, we’ll have done what was needed under immense pressure and scrutiny. But no matter what happens, I’ll be proud of what we’ve achieved together as a team, against all odds.”
