Max Verstappen criticizes social media negativity, addressing misrepresentations of his F1 rivalries and relationships during the intense 2024 season.
Max Verstappen claims that “idiots” on social media have portrayed his relationship with Lando Norris during the 2024 F1 season as worse than it actually is.
Verstappen and Norris have been good friends off the track since meeting in karting over a decade ago, but this year marked their first battle for the F1 title.
The two clashed in Austria in June, followed by controversial incidents in Austin and Mexico in October, as Verstappen faced mounting pressure to maintain his championship lead.
Verstappen eventually secured a fourth consecutive title with a crucial win in São Paulo before finishing ahead of Norris at the Las Vegas GP, where he was crowned champion.
“People always make things much worse on social media. There are a lot of idiots on that platform who always have something to say, always something to criticize.”
“There are many positive people, but also real idiots. I think it’s better to just ignore all that.”
“Lando and I get along very well. Of course, there have been some tense moments on track, but off it, that shouldn’t matter. We always try our best on track to achieve the best possible result.”
“We’re fighting for the World Championship. I think it’s normal for these things to happen, but we get along well.”
