Haas F1 faced a challenging day in Monaco, with Kevin Magnussen leading the team but still outside the top 10. The gaps are tight, leaving room for improvement.
Kevin Magnussen was the most impressive of the Haas F1 drivers this Friday in Monaco, finishing 13th in FP2. The Danish driver focused on qualifying and reflected on this crucial day for the rest of the weekend.
“It’s incredibly tight, as always, I keep saying it now, and this race is all about qualifying, so it’s very important we get it right tomorrow,” said Magnussen.
“There is good rear grip in the car, the large rear wing is important here, but everyone has come to Monaco with a high-downforce wing. The track is so bumpy that it makes driving here even more intimidating.”
“You have to be brave to get the most out of it, and I don’t think anyone has done that so far. It’s very easy to go over the limit, and it’s very costly. I’d like to have a bit more pace, but we’ll see what we can do.”
Nico Hülkenberg finished 15th and admitted that Haas lacks performance: “It’s something! During the first laps, you realise how fast it goes and how dynamic it is. It was a decent day, a bit far off. It wasn’t great in terms of performance, but the gaps are tight, so we need to find a bit more for tomorrow.”
“I’d like to know how, but we’ll see tomorrow if we manage. We’re a bit off the top 10, but it wasn’t too bad, we just lack grip in some areas, so we’ll see what we can do.”
