Flavio Briatore, appointed by Luca de Meo, will serve as Alpine F1’s Executive Advisor to reinvigorate the team’s performance and strategy.
It is official: the information we shared with you last night was confirmed this morning by a very brief statement from Alpine F1.
“BWT Alpine F1 Team confirms that Flavio Briatore is appointed by Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group, as Executive Advisor for Formula 1 activities.”
“Briatore will primarily focus on the team’s strategic areas of expertise, including the acquisition of key talents and the driver market. He will propose changes to the current project structure and advise on all strategic matters of the discipline.”
According to our information, one of Briatore’s first decisions will be whether to continue Renault’s engine program at Viry. Alpine F1 could thus become a customer team of Mercedes, Honda, Ferrari, or Red Bull Powertrains from 2026.
