General Motors has officially confirmed Graeme Lowdon as Team Principal for Cadillac’s Formula 1 entry, set for 2026.
General Motors has confirmed the information we first reported on December 1st: the manufacturer has appointed Graeme Lowdon as Team Principal of Cadillac, which has signed an agreement to enter Formula 1 in 2026.
GM has therefore placed an experienced name at the helm; Lowdon was the sporting director of the now-defunct Manor team, which existed from 2010 to 2016.
“I am truly honored to be named Team Principal of this exciting new venture, and I would like to thank everyone involved for their trust.”
“I believe Formula 1 is the greatest team sport in the world, and teams are ultimately about people.”
“Cadillac is a team that truly loves racing and is eager to be a part of it, and we have the experience and expertise to make it happen.”
“Racing is at the very heart of everything we do. It’s what I want to see in a team, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Lowdon became involved with Andretti’s venture in January 2023 following the FIA’s opening of an interest expression process for new candidates to apply for entry into F1.
However, while the FOM rejected the initial bid under the Andretti Global name, General Motors is now ready to enter under the Cadillac brand once the new regulations are in place.
General Motors will continue to split the operation between the United States and the United Kingdom, where it has a satellite base near Silverstone.
“I do not underestimate the task ahead, and I have the utmost respect for the competition.”
“I’m excited to take on the challenge. In the meantime, our work continues at a fast pace to be ready in 2026.”
Mark Reuss, President of General Motors, emphasized that Lowdon “has vast racing expertise” and “knows how to build a high-performing team.”
“He embodies the values that the Cadillac Formula 1 team will represent in all its efforts, both on and off the track.”
