Logan Sargeant tests with Meyer Shank Racing, but the IndyCar team confirms no seat is available for the 2025 season.
Logan Sargeant, recently dropped by Williams F1 mid-season but still part of the Grove team’s driver program, is likely to remain absent from single-seater competition for at least another year in 2025.
This comes despite Meyer Shank Racing’s IndyCar team sharing images of the American driver undergoing a seat fitting ahead of an upcoming test.
Sargeant is set to test their IndyCar car next Tuesday, with the intention of joining the American series as early as next season.
“Logan’s manager is also George Russell’s manager,” said Michael Shank, co-owner of the team, “and I’ve gotten to know him well through a family friend, Oswaldo Negri.”
“He has always kept in touch to stay updated and keep monitoring.”
However, Shank does not have a vacant seat to offer Sargeant for 2025.
“I think when everything fell apart, and his contract with Williams was canceled, I thought, ‘Well, this guy holds an F1 super license and has performed well. Let’s just see where this leads.’”
“We tested Nyck de Vries a few years ago for the same reason. Now, I know what Nyck is worth.”
“But in Logan’s case, I have nothing to offer him for 2025. Still, he remains on my radar in case we find ourselves in a tough spot and want to try someone. We have someone to call immediately.”
“I think Tuesday is simply a rare chance to test someone I believe has potential. You never know.”
