Lindblad Secures Super License - Red Bull F1 Path Awaits

Lindblad’s Super License victory propels him closer to F1, solidifying his role as Red Bull’s next potential star under Helmut Marko.

Arvid Lindblad has secured the coveted pass that all single-seater drivers seek. Sent by Red Bull to New Zealand to compete in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship this winter, he earned enough Super License points to obtain this crucial permit for targeting F1.

With seven victories in the first eight races, he then focused on securing his ranking, which he successfully managed as the championship progressed. Guaranteed the title and the 18 accompanying Super License points, Helmut Marko’s protégé is now reassured.

“I’m really relieved,” Lindblad said. “I knew that after Teretonga, I was in a very strong position and had one hand on the trophy, so it was more about finishing the races here, and I’m very happy to have done that. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and having some fun.”

Lindblad now has to wait until he turns 18, which will happen in August, to be eligible to become a reserve driver for Red Bull or Racing Bulls. However, the FIA has left the door open for a driver under 18 to participate in a race weekend, as seen last year with Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

Lindblad was recently regarded as the best prospect in the Red Bull junior team by Helmut Marko, who continues to praise the young driver and his qualities: “First of all, there’s his raw speed. He’s proven it in karting and in all junior categories.”

“He’s very intelligent and honest with himself. When he makes a mistake, he doesn’t look for excuses and focuses on moving forward. He’s always ahead of the curve, including physically.”

“As for his mental preparation, when he transitions between formulas, he’s one of the few to have gone directly from Formula 4 to F3. He has his own perspective, knows how to prepare, and progresses step by step. I would say it’s a very strong combination of mental toughness and driving skills.”
