Ferrari’s strategic move to bring in Lewis Hamilton is seen by Charles Leclerc as a major boost for the team.
Charles Leclerc is pleased to see Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari next year. The Monegasque driver believes this recruitment is undoubtedly positive, including in terms of the image it projects for the Scuderia.
“I see this as a great opportunity, for me and for the team, but also for our sport,” Leclerc told La Stampa. “Having a seven-time world champion in the team sends a strong signal.”
Leclerc has often been seen with Hamilton lately, especially during the Sunday morning parades. He explains that the two men respect each other and have several reasons to get along well, especially as they get to know each other.
“There’s a lot of respect, as well as a very good relationship, but maybe we don’t see each other enough to be friends. I am convinced that our relationship will strengthen when he arrives at Ferrari, as we have many worlds that unite us. Music too.”
A shared passion that prompted the Mercedes driver to write to his future teammate when he heard his songs on the piano: “He already knows my music; he wrote to me when the first things came out, we often discuss it.”
However, Leclerc also has a word for Carlos Sainz, who is leaving Ferrari. He notes that it is a natural situation for two drivers, and he again praises their working relationship within the Italian team.
“After many years, I have a wonderful relationship with Carlos. Personally, I was very sorry when I heard the news, but on the other hand, when you sign with a team, there is an expiration date, you don’t know when, but sooner or later it will come, and you have to accept it.”
