Charles Leclerc remains unfazed by the intense attention surrounding Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari arrival, insisting it doesn’t impact his mindset or approach.
Charles Leclerc is not surprised by the intense media attention Ferrari has received this winter following Lewis Hamilton’s arrival. However, the Monegasque driver points out that Ferrari naturally attracts significant attention in general.
“No, I wasn’t surprised,” Leclerc stated. “I think Ferrari has always drawn a lot of attention to the team. And of course, this year, it’s even bigger because Lewis is joining. He is obviously a legend of the sport, so it’s normal that there is even more attention than usual.”
While Hamilton’s arrival has intensified the spotlight on Ferrari, Leclerc insists it hasn’t changed his approach, even if his teammate is now the primary focus. “The normal level is already very high. Now, with Lewis, everything is exploding—there’s obviously a lot of coverage, a lot of requests, and all of that.”
“But it’s part of the job, and the team in the background is doing a great job because, as a driver, I don’t really feel the impact. Of course, I can see the madness. At Fiorano, when we drove the car, I could see the excitement around the track, and it’s incredible to witness. But I only see the positives.”
“For me, the attention around the team is completely transparent. Naturally, there’s less around me because when a legendary driver joins the most iconic team on the grid, it’s normal for all the focus to be on him. But that doesn’t change the way I go about things.”
Now set to partner with a seven-time world champion, Leclerc has no concerns about their working relationship and expects it to be both productive and harmonious. “It comes very naturally. I’m not a complicated person—I get along with 99% of the people I meet.”
“So I don’t think it will be difficult, especially since we had a great connection from the start. We already had a good relationship before— we were quite close even before he joined Ferrari because we share common passions and always have something to talk about. That hasn’t changed since he arrived, everything is going great, and it will continue that way.”
