Leclerc Transforms Tyre Weakness into Ferrari’s Key Strength

Ferrari’s Tyre Gains: Leclerc Turns Weakness into Advantage

31/10/2024

Charles Leclerc reveals how Ferrari’s tyre management advances have boosted his performance, converting a former weakness into a critical strength.

Charles Leclerc believes Ferrari’s strong position at the end of this season is largely due to recent structural decisions and reorganisations that have transformed the Scuderia over the past few years. He cites his own progress as an example, noting he has turned one of his former weaknesses into a strength.

“Tyre management used to be one of my main weaknesses,” Leclerc reflects with satisfaction, “and I believe today, it’s become one of my strengths.” He also praised the “significant strides forward” brought by Ravin Jain, Ferrari’s new strategist, alongside the steady influence of Fred Vasseur.

“What’s remarkable about Ferrari is the immense passion within the team, which drives people to go above and beyond normal working hours simply because they love what they do,” he explained.

“That dedication is incredibly valuable, but it can come at a cost during challenging periods when team members are more emotionally impacted, making it a tough environment at times.”

“However, Fred brings a very calm, professional demeanour emotionally, which is exactly what Ferrari needs – a leader who maintains a clear vision and isn’t swayed by outside perceptions and emotions.”

Nevertheless, Ferrari has yet to reach its desired level, and there are further adjustments to be made in both development and structural evolution, all with the ultimate goal of reaching the summit.

“We have a clear view of where we currently stand and our developmental objectives,” Leclerc said. “In terms of goals, it’s clear to everyone that we aim to win both titles, and we hope to start by securing one of them this year.”
