Charles Leclerc stays unfazed by Ferrari’s early-season form, focusing solely on the title fight while bonding with new teammate Lewis Hamilton.
Leclerc isn’t sweating Ferrari’s start to the season. For him, the bigger picture is what matters—fighting for the title, not just nailing the first few races. Of course, he’d love to see Ferrari competitive from the get-go, but he knows that the real goal is the long game.
“My job is to shut out everything happening around the team—good or bad—and ignore all the noise. This year, there’s been less noise around me because Lewis is joining, and it makes sense that all eyes are on him given the magnitude of his move,” Leclerc explained.
“I’m just doing what I always do: focusing on myself, making sure I’m ready, and starting the season strong. I feel great, super motivated, and I can’t wait to be back in the car tomorrow.”
For Leclerc, adaptability is key. “As an F1 driver, the first thing you learn is to reset every weekend. If you step back and look at it, two-tenths over a 1m30s or 1m40s lap is nothing—it can swing either way in an instant.”
He remains cautious about the competition. “McLaren was quicker in Bahrain, but who knows if that’ll be the case this weekend? It’s a different kind of track. What matters is being champions, no matter where we start—whether we’re behind or ahead.”
Still, he’s hopeful. “Ideally, we start a bit ahead, but if not, we stay calm and keep pushing. That’s exactly what we did last year, and we came back strong in the second half of the season. Let’s see how things unfold tomorrow.”
Building a Strong Bond with Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton has praised Leclerc’s work ethic, and the feeling is mutual. The two have clicked since becoming teammates.
“Lewis is great. He’s such a kind person. We get along really well and have a lot in common, especially our love for music. Honestly, we never really had the time to talk about that before.”
Their conversations used to be strictly business. “At races, we mostly talked about racing. But spending more time together in Maranello and doing other things gave us a chance to chat about our other passions.”
Now, they’re getting to know each other better. “It’s been really cool. He has so many interests outside of racing, and we’ve connected on a lot of things. He’s been super nice, and honestly, we’re getting along great.”
Leclerc is ready. The season is just beginning, but for him, the mindset is already set: block out the noise, stay focused, and fight for the ultimate prize.
