Leclerc Savors Wins in Monaco and Monza

Leclerc’s Twin Triumphs: Monaco and Monza Shine

04/09/2024

Charles Leclerc relishes his significant victories in Monaco and Monza, marking standout moments in his racing career this season.

Charles Leclerc clinched victories in Monaco and Monza this year with his Ferrari SF-24. The Scuderia driver is thrilled to have won these two significant races, particularly on circuits that are complete opposites in terms of philosophy.

“Yes, two very different circuits. But it feels good to win at both. It definitely has more significance, Monaco as a Monegasque and here as a Ferrari driver,” stated Leclerc. “So yes, both are very special feelings, and I wouldn’t want to choose between the two because they are both very special.”

He was asked about his desire to compete in the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans to achieve the famed Triple Crown. In reality, this includes the two races mentioned, but more importantly, the Formula 1 World Championship title, not the Monaco win. However, Leclerc expressed his preference among the two classics.

“I would really like to do Le Mans one day. Indianapolis isn’t something I’ve particularly considered. But maybe one day. But Le Mans is undoubtedly one of the races I would like to participate in one day. So, yes. I don’t know when, but I hope it will be soon.”

Asked about his desire to keep a black suit like the one he wore on Sunday to attract luck, the Monegasque was very pragmatic: “No, I’m not superstitious and I never will be. I think as an athlete, it’s the last thing to do.”

“Because I’ve always felt that it mentally conditioned me. If I start asking for a black suit for the rest of the season, I’m not sure the tifosi will be very happy. So no, I don’t have any superstitions.”

“We won in Monaco, we were in red. We won here, we were in black. I don’t think we plan to use anything other than red for the rest of the season, and I hope this red will be a success, as in Monaco.”
