Charles Leclerc anticipates a strong relationship with Lewis Hamilton next year, while ensuring his bond with Carlos Sainz remains intact.
Charles Leclerc is not worried about losing his good relationship with Carlos Sainz when the Spaniard moves to Williams F1. The Ferrari driver points out that they will still be in regular contact, and their bond goes beyond just being teammates.
“I’ve said it many times. On one hand, it’s not like I’ll miss him terribly because he’ll still be in the paddock, maybe 20 meters away. On the other hand, as I said to Fred, Carlos isn’t my girlfriend either,” said Leclerc.
“I like Carlos a lot, but I’m sure we’ll still spend a lot of time together. And as I said earlier, we have a very good relationship that will remain even after our time at Ferrari.”
“Yes, we won’t work together anymore, but we’ll still spend time together. He’s a good person, and we get along very, very well. And as I said before, that helps us work very well together.”
The Monegasque was asked about the possibility of a different dynamic next year with Lewis Hamilton as his teammate, but he’s not so sure: “No, I don’t think so. We also have a very good relationship. It’s a different relationship because I haven’t spent much time with Lewis yet.”
“But I obviously have a lot of respect for Lewis and for what he’s accomplished. And we’ve had a very good relationship. We’re not quite the same age, but we share many interests outside of racing. So no, I’m sure it won’t be different.”
