Leclerc Frustrated as Ferrari Team Orders Spark Confusion

Leclerc questions Ferrari strategy after team radio chaos and a one-minute gap to McLaren at a tough Miami Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc wasn’t hiding his frustration after the Miami Grand Prix. Ferrari finished well behind McLaren, nearly a minute off, and a messy exchange over team radio didn’t help.

The confusion centered on team orders involving Leclerc and his new teammate, Lewis Hamilton. When asked about the tension, Leclerc tried to stay diplomatic.

“I’m not sure what Lewis was asking for, but I don’t blame him,” Leclerc told Canal+. “We both want the best result for the team. But honestly, there wasn’t enough conversation before the swap. I was trying to manage my tyres, and when I was told to let him through, I did it right away.”

“It didn’t really work out in the end, but that’s racing. We finished a minute down, that’s hard to accept. We’ll talk about it internally. We have to improve because this just wasn’t good enough.”

Hamilton had called it “poor teamwork” over the radio. Was Leclerc on the same page?

“I don’t know what his side of it was. The first time I was told to switch places, I did it within 100 meters,” Leclerc said. “That’s not a criticism of Lewis, just a fact. I reacted right away. I can’t say what conversations happened between him and the team before that.”

“In the end, we followed the instructions we were given, but clearly, we need to review everything and get better as a team.”
