Leap of Faith: Hamilton’s Bold Ferrari Adventure Begins

Lewis Hamilton embarks on a thrilling Ferrari journey, embracing the challenges and excitement of a fresh start in Formula 1.

Hamilton is just one race away from joining Ferrari in red for the 2025 season.

After his final race with Mercedes F1 in Abu Dhabi this weekend, he will step into a new environment and a Scuderia still chasing a drivers’ title.

How does he feel about attempting to replicate what Michael Schumacher achieved, something other world champions like Alonso, Vettel, and Prost could not?

“I mean, I’m not looking to compare myself to Michael. Not in that way. Right now, it’s not something I’m thinking about. Obviously, I’m trying to ensure I finish in the right way and in the best way possible with Mercedes. These next few days will be very emotional. It’s a big unknown as to what comes next. Of course, there’s a lot of excitement. And yes, I can’t really say much more at this point. I have nothing else to add on the matter.”

How important is this move to Ferrari at this stage of his career? Does it reignite his motivation and drive?

“Of course, it’s incredibly motivating, and it’s a dream scenario for any driver to have an opportunity like this. But you can’t take it for granted—it’s not easy to join Ferrari.”

“Additionally, you know, I have immense respect for Carlos (Sainz, sitting next to him) and everything he has achieved within the team. And I understand it’s a challenging step to take…”

“You know, I remember when I joined Mercedes—it wasn’t an easy step to integrate into a new team. It takes time to build new relationships and learn the tools and everything.”

“Approaching next year with the same focus, the same drive I had when I joined Mercedes, and ultimately taking this leap of faith, I think it’s exciting and thrilling.”

Does Carlos Sainz have any advice to ease this leap of faith?

“No, honestly, I don’t think a seven-time world champion who has switched teams several times in the past needs my advice. The only thing I can obviously recommend or say to him is to enjoy it.”

“It’s an incredible place, as a team, and to race in Formula 1. I think he will receive amazing treatment from the tifosi and all the fans, engineers, mechanics, everyone involved at Ferrari, and that he’ll enjoy it because there’s nothing better than being a Formula 1 driver at Ferrari.”

“And yes, I’m sure he’ll make the most of it.”
