Liam Lawson declares he has no fear at the thought of becoming Max Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull.
Liam Lawson harbors no apprehension at the prospect of facing Max Verstappen at Red Bull, should he be promoted in 2025.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko recently hinted that the team would decide on its driver lineup following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, as Sergio Perez faces mounting pressure amid a series of lackluster performances.
The Mexican driver finds himself under considerable strain, with Lawson emerging as a favored candidate among potential replacements.
Despite his limited experience, Lawson expresses full confidence in his ability to stand alongside Verstappen if given the opportunity.
“No, I don’t fear it. In fact, there’s no one else I’d rather have as a teammate than Max. He’s the very best in the sport.”
“It would be incredibly instructive to compete against him, to study his data each weekend, and to see precisely how he approaches Formula 1. For me, it would be the ultimate challenge.”
“So no, I’m not afraid. I’m not thinking about it too much right now. If the opportunity comes my way in the future, I’ll do everything I can to make the most of it.”
Having spent considerable time as a reserve, Lawson reveals that he has gained more insight from Verstappen than any other driver so far.
“Being in the garage, with the headset on, I’ve been able to see and hear everything up close for two years now.”
“How he drives the car, how he talks about balance, and what he wants.”
“Max is very clear and direct; he doesn’t waste words when giving feedback. That’s crucial in Formula 1. I believe I’ve learned more from him than from anyone else.”
