Racing Bulls wrapped up their season with a high-mileage test in Abu Dhabi, showcasing performance and reliability across an intensive final session.
Liam Lawson set the record for laps completed on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi. The Racing Bulls driver clocked 159 laps of the Abu Dhabi circuit and expressed satisfaction with covering three race distances.
“It was a good day. We had planned to do as many laps as possible, so we did a lot, which was cool. It’s probably the most laps I’ve done in one go in the car,” Lawson said.
“You always learn more on days like this because you effectively cover three race distances. With the limited number of races I’ve done, a day like this is very useful. It’s rare to complete everything on the program as we did today.”
“The team was very well organized, and when you get the chance to run as many tires as we did, it’s always exciting. It’s a great way to finish the season and head into the winter break.”
In the other VCARB 01, Ayumu Iwasa was also busy. The Japanese rookie completed 110 laps of the Emirati circuit, with a positive takeaway from the test: “Today was a big experience right from the start, and I learned a lot. I also wanted to do my best for the team and its future in the 2025 season.”
“The team let me know they were happy with how things went today, and that makes me very pleased. Even in the performance run, I managed to deliver solid laps, so overall, I’m quite satisfied with my performance.”
“Throughout the day, I felt increasingly confident in the car and felt I was getting used to the sensations of an F1. I hope that the next time I get the chance to drive, my performance will be even better.”
Alan Permane, the team’s Sporting Director, provided a technical overview of the end-of-year running: “Liam and Ayumu drove for Racing Bulls today in the current car, which has specifications similar to those used during the Abu Dhabi GP. Liam ran with the 2025-spec Pirelli tires.”
“He completed a series of suspension setup checks with both low and high fuel loads to assess the impact of these tires on the car and gather insights for next season.”
“Ayumu drove on this season’s tires and had a very good day, getting back in the car after his run in FP1 at Abu Dhabi. Ayumu was very comfortable and gave excellent feedback. He ran on soft tires towards the end of the day and set a competitive time while being happy with the car.”
“Overall, it was a very productive day. Both cars ran reliably, we completed a significant number of laps, and we have a wealth of data to analyze before testing resumes in February. Thanks to the entire team for this season.”
