Lawrence Stroll is considering selling up to 25% of his Aston Martin F1 team amid growing interest.
Lawrence Stroll is reportedly in preliminary discussions to sell a minority stake in the Aston Martin F1 team.
The Canadian billionaire is willing to sell up to 25% of his interests in the motorsport sector, according to a Bloomberg report.
The financial newspaper states that the goal is to capitalize “on the growing popularity of the sport, according to people familiar with the matter.”
This comes after Stroll sold a minority stake last November to the American private equity firm Arctos Partners. The investment values Aston Martin F1 at 1.3 billion euros.
“From time to time, and more recently following the investment by Arctos Partners, the team is approached by interested parties,” a spokesperson said in response to this information.
These 25% could go to Aramco, the Saudi oil company and title sponsor of the team.
Stroll, owner of the Silverstone-based F1 team, led a consortium to rescue the struggling British luxury carmaker Aston Martin in 2020.
The deal saw the former Racing Point team renamed Aston Martin for the 2021 F1 season. Stroll is the executive chairman of Aston Martin, holding a 20% stake.
