Haas F1 reclaimed sixth in Las Vegas, with Komatsu praising Hülkenberg’s eighth-place finish and Magnussen’s recovery in a decisive race.
Haas F1 secured four points in Las Vegas, reclaiming sixth place in the championship from Alpine after losing it in Brazil. Team director Ayao Komatsu celebrated Nico Hülkenberg’s result and praised Kevin Magnussen’s one-stop strategy.
“I think this is the best eighth place we’ve ever achieved!” Komatsu said with pride. “It wasn’t an easy race to manage, but what truly makes me happy is that no one panicked.”
“Everyone stayed calm. Everyone, including the team back at the factory, did their job, and pulling off this strong two-stop race with Nico to clinch eighth place is fantastic.”
“With Kevin, after the first lap, he lost positions, and the only way to bring him back into contention was with a stop. His race crew did their best in that scenario, nearly bringing him back to tenth.”
This solid team performance helps erase the sting of Brazil, where Haas lost sixth place to Alpine after gaining it from RB F1 in Mexico. “It was a tremendous effort from the team in terms of managing both drivers,” Komatsu said.
“We’re back in sixth place in the constructors’ standings. After that tough result in Brazil, the response has been incredible, and it boosts everyone’s confidence, so I couldn’t be happier.”
