Kevin Magnussen Leaves Haas F1 on Positive Terms

Magnussen Bids Farewell to Haas F1: A Family Forever

25/12/2024

Kevin Magnussen reflects on his time at Haas F1, highlighting strong bonds and a positive departure as he moves forward.

Kevin Magnussen has no regrets or resentment as he departs Formula 1 at the end of the 2024 season. After spending the last three seasons with Haas F1, the Danish driver is pleased to leave the team on good terms, with plans to join BMW in the WEC next year.

“We’re definitely not parting on bad terms,” Magnussen assures. “I feel like part of the team. I think I’ll still feel like part of the team next year. Whatever happens, I feel like it’s my team.”

“I don’t know how many years I’ve been here—seven or eight years. Seven seasons. So it’s been eight years, which is a big part of my life. It’s almost a third of my life, which is crazy. So of course, it feels like family.”

Magnussen is happy to leave after a strong season for Haas F1, which appears to be on an upward trajectory under the leadership of Ayao Komatsu. The team is set to welcome a new driver pairing in 2025 with Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman.

“It’s hard to take full credit for all of this, but I think it’s good that we’ve seemed to move toward something better. If the team does well next year, I’ll have contributed to that. The same goes for many others. It’s hard to feel proud of it alone.”

“I think this is something the members of this team have deserved for many years. To see this kind of improvement, I think if you look back, you can see the potential we’ve always had. We’ve always experienced ups and downs—too many of them.”

“I believe these highs wouldn’t come without great talent within the team. There are very talented people here who deserve better opportunities. I think this team is heading in a direction where those opportunities will come.”
