Drivers brace for extreme Saudi heat as soaring temps and track conditions turn the Jeddah GP into a true endurance test.
Formula 1 heads to Jeddah this weekend for the fifth round of the 2025 season, and the heat will be just as intense off the track as it is on it.
After a sweltering weekend in Bahrain, teams are bracing for similar weather at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, with air temperatures expected to soar above 35°C and track temperatures potentially hitting a blistering 60°C.
Friday and Saturday’s first and third practice sessions will take place before sunset, meaning drivers and engineers will face the toughest heat of the day. Add high humidity to the mix, and the conditions could become extremely demanding, both physically and technically.
Tire management will be key once again. While Bahrain’s rough track surface added extra wear to the rubber, Jeddah’s smoother asphalt should offer some relief. Still, the extreme heat will test even the most precise strategies.
Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s Grand Prix won’t bring much of a cooldown. Forecasts suggest temperatures will hover around 30°C throughout the weekend, keeping the pressure high and the margins razor-thin.
