Jak Crawford is set to consider Cadillac F1 if Aston Martin delays offering him a full-time racing opportunity.
Jak Crawford stated that he might consider a potential driver opportunity with Cadillac’s future Formula 1 team if no opening arises at Aston Martin F1.
Crawford serves as a reserve driver for Aston Martin F1 and made his first official appearance during the post-season tests in Abu Dhabi.
Cadillac is expected to join the grid in 2026 once it secures full registration from the FIA, with the team formerly led by Andretti aiming for at least one American driver in its lineup. Mario Andretti, who remains a consultant, has reiterated this ambition, though he leans more towards Colton Herta for the role.
“Obviously, for now, I’m with Aston Martin, and the plan is to stay with them to learn and develop. Of course, if a full-time driver seat opened up, I’d love to take it. Honestly, it’s my dream, so any scenario like that, I’d definitely have to consider.”
“I’m racing in F2 next year; there aren’t many Americans in F2 or F3. Of course, there are the IndyCar drivers, but from a European standpoint, I’d say I’m definitely the top American at the moment.”
Crawford also expressed confidence in his ability to perform in F1 if given the opportunity, citing his tests and the success of several F2 drivers who have made the leap to F1.
“I feel very comfortable in the Aston Martin. You never really know how you’ll stack up or compare in your first official session, but I feel like I performed well, and that definitely gives me confidence that I can compete at the level. Especially since many of my rivals in Formula 2 this year are stepping up and already doing well in Formula 1.”
