Isack Hadjar reveals he’d seize a Red Bull opportunity, even unprepared, while staying focused and confident with Racing Bulls this season.
When asked about Liam Lawson’s situation, having been demoted from Red Bull to Racing Bulls after just two races, Isack Hadjar believes that getting a chance with the main team is an opportunity that should not be missed, regardless of the outcome.
“It’s Red Bull, the biggest team, and while it’s a huge challenge, if they call me, I’d say I’m ready, even if I’m not!” Hadjar said, adding that he wasn’t surprised by the behavior of the Red Bull RB20.
“I drove the Red Bull last year for an entire day in Abu Dhabi. Coming from F2 to F1, it felt amazing. I didn’t have to push the car to its limits. I can’t really explain it, but I know my car is a joy to drive,” he shared.
Hadjar Understands Red Bull’s Tough Choices
However, he made it clear that Red Bull’s decision didn’t take him by surprise: “No, maybe it’s strange for everyone else, but not for the drivers. We understand what’s going on and how tough this sport is.”
“In the Red Bull family, it’s all about performance. The guy who performs the best right now has a better chance of getting the seat next to Max. I think it’s clear and obvious. Once you stop performing or face difficulties, things become much harder,” he explained.
Although he’s pleased to work alongside Lawson, Hadjar is also very comfortable at Racing Bulls: “I’m in a good position, enjoying my season, and I welcome Liam’s return to the team. The atmosphere is great, and I’m excited to work with him.”
Hadjar admitted that he would have liked to continue working with Yuki Tsunoda, but he’s happy for the Japanese driver’s opportunity: “I’m a bit sad he’s gone, but yes, it will definitely be a challenge for him. I know he was ready and had been waiting for this moment. I think it’s really cool that he got called up for his home race. So, I wish him the best.”
