Hungary Beckons as Verstappen Forgets UK

Verstappen Eyes Redemption in Hungary

17/07/2024

Verstappen aims to reclaim glory in Hungary, moving past his recent struggles at the British Grand Prix.

Over the past two years, Red Bull has completely dominated the Hungarian Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen securing two victories. Last year, he achieved the largest winning margin at this circuit since 2001. However, this year might be different, as the team struggles to find its pace on certain tracks.

“Hungary is an interesting circuit and we look forward to racing there this week. The track is very narrow and twisty with a highly technical second sector, and it will also be a bit warmer this week,” Verstappen stated.

“Silverstone was a tricky race for us: although we made all the right decisions, there is still much to work on and improve for the second half of the season.”

“I returned to the factory with the team on the simulator to prepare for the next race, which was beneficial. We were also at Goodwood this weekend to celebrate 20 years of Red Bull and pay tribute to everyone who has been part of the team’s history.”

“Lastly, we had a brilliant race in Hungary last year and have good memories here since we achieved 12 consecutive victories. I hope we can put on another strong performance this year and secure another good result for the team.”

Pérez has “found solutions” to his problems

Sergio Pérez, who is playing for his future at Red Bull this weekend and next in Belgium, took some time to recharge after a challenging British Grand Prix. He now hopes to halt this streak of poor results.

“It was good to have some time after the British GP, as sometimes it is very important to step away from the circuit noise. I spent time with my family and trained,” Pérez said.

“But I was also at the factory with my team, on the simulator, and we analyzed how we could improve this current form. We are still working together to find solutions and that’s what we have been doing, working as a team to overcome the difficulties.”

“I think you can see how special Red Bull Racing is in moments like the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Sunday, seeing our history so clearly, running up the hill together, reminds you of all we have achieved and all that remains to be accomplished.”
