Haas F1: Hülkenberg Storms into Q3, Magnussen on Brink of Race Ban

Haas F1 experiences contrasting fortunes in Miami as Hülkenberg’s Q3 achievement contrasts Magnussen’s looming race suspension.

Nico Hülkenberg continues to impress at Haas F1. Following his two-point haul in the Sprint, he has once again propelled his VF-24 into Q3 for tomorrow’s Miami Grand Prix.

The German qualified in 9th position, ahead of both RB F1 and Aston Martin F1—a promising sign!

“Qualifying was really challenging to string together the perfect lap; it’s a tough track with the hot temperatures, and the tires keep heating up throughout the lap. But here we are in Q3 again, ahead of our immediate competitors.”

“Overall, it’s been a very positive Saturday, with two points today, and they are a bonus for us, which is quite nice to already have. Of course, we’ll be pushing for more points tomorrow—it’s definitely going to be a tight fight with RB F1 and everyone else behind us.”

For Kevin Magnussen, it’s a day to forget! During qualifying, where he only managed 19th due to traffic (according to him), he received three penalty points on his superlicence—one for each unsportsmanlike maneuver during the Sprint.

He now has 8 points on his licence, with no chance of redemption before the season’s end! He must therefore avoid accruing more than 4 penalty points in the remaining 19 races!

“I feel like a broken record every time after qualifying talking about the traffic. I think we have a good car, so we should be able to do something tomorrow, but I’m tired of starting from a poor position because of the traffic. For now, it’s time to stay focused and get the job done.”

Magnussen also met with the race stewards regarding his overall on-track behavior. Further penalties are not out of the question for the Danish driver.
