Hülkenberg Nears Three-Year Deal with Audi F1

Nico Hülkenberg is set to join Audi F1, with just a signature needed to seal a three-year contract starting in 2025.

As discussed in recent days and confirmed during the Grand Prix show on Tuesday night, Nico Hülkenberg is on the verge of signing a deal with Sauber for the 2025 season and beyond, as Audi officially enters the sport.

According to multiple consistent sources in Germany, Hülkenberg has agreed to join Audi, and “only the signature is missing,” says a source at Audi F1.

Hülkenberg’s departure from Haas F1 could be announced by the end of next month, as the German brand wants to give itself time to also sign its second driver. Audi is still betting on Carlos Sainz and, with the assurance of having a German driver, is willing to delay the deadline a bit for the Spaniard who is primarily looking to join Red Bull Racing in place of Sergio Perez.

Sauber CEO Andreas Seidl wanted to replace Bottas with Hülkenberg this season, but Haas F1 was unwilling to let go of the option it had on the German.

Hülkenberg will return to Hinwil after spending a year with the team in 2013.

The 36-year-old driver would be offered a three-year contract with Audi.
